My full name is Ángel Antón Svoboda. I was born, grew up and live in Alicante (Spain) surrounded by comics, for which I profess true love. They are largely responsible for the fact that I dedicate myself to illustration professionally. That is why it is perhaps curious that I decided to study graphic design.

A fanzine collaborator in adolescence, in 2006 I worked for the children’s comic book magazine «Mister K», from Ediciones El Jueves, creating «Malacara Jack», a western bandit sillier than his horse that I still publish in the magazine «Amaníaco», with scripts by Josep Busquet .

My experience as a designer and art director for more than twenty years allows me not only to illustrate books, press articles or comics, but also to provide the graphic design that best accompanies my illustrations in their final medium, or to better understand what the client or the publisher needs for the purpose of fulfilling my work.

This combination of skills I have also carried out in my capacity as an author, as I have done the graphic design and art direction of my comic book «Secretos Arcanos», published by Dibbuks in Spain and by Amigo Comics in the U.S.A., my illustrated book «Damned Writers. 23 autores de culto», published by Bululú with editions in Spanish and Galician, as well as in the book «Evolutivos» that I have illustrated for Mosquito books, and which will be published in Spanish, Catalan, French, Chinese, Korean and English. In the first two I have also been responsible for the texts.

As an illustrator I love the use of vectors. I am a professional with programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop or Affinity Designer. The latter has become my favorite tool to illustrate, as it allows me to combine vectors with bitmaps in a single application. Thus, sometimes I make more synthetic illustrations with clearer geometries (ideal for communicating conceptual messages), and other times I simply clean up my pencil drawings with vectors, providing geometric precision and warmth with the color and texture treatments I like to apply, achieving a result that is perfect for illustrated books.
